Community
Whilst Arafa Holding operates two charity organizations that contribute medical help to poor children, the Holding's major impact on its community is in raising the standards of living for its large workforce, through the provision of employment, training and housing.
The construction of housing facilities for our workers within walking distance from the factory site is underway with the first phase for 2000 people due for completion in December 2009. In addition, the Group has acquired a 150 acre site in close proximity to the factories that will provide accommodation for the majority of our workforce over the next ten years. This investment is self financing through the reduction in transportation costs on the long run.
Environment
We already exceed the requirements of our local environmental laws as we comply with the international standards stipulated by our clients. We intend to continue to raise our standards, moving towards implementing ISO 14001 in all our factories.
Our current focus is on the preservation of energy. Power is switched off during rest hours in our factories and at the end of the day. Measures are in place to rationalize water consumption and a new department has been set up to manage waste and improve recycling.
