As a competitor in the high quality international brands market, we need to ensure our garments are produced under lawful, humane and ethical conditions. We have a high profile approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR) as this is an integral part of our corporate reputation around the world. Our philosophy is to not only ensure that we meet any regulatory requirements but to go beyond them.
We are responsible for a huge and diverse workforce of approximately 12,000 people. The Board monitors our CSR performance and standards on a regular basis, receiving internal audits reports from the Compliance and Health & Safety departments and external reports from clients' compliance auditors. A compliance newsletter is issued monthly communicating client audit results, progress on rectifying issues and successes, such as winning the International Modernisation Centre's ‘National Award for Excellence in Export' in 2007 for the Swiss Garments Company.
